2 Corinthians 5:7- for we walk by faith, not by sight.
When Jesus resurrected from the dead, He was seen by His disciples except 2, Judas who killed himself by hanging and Thomas who wasn’t around at the time.
When Thomas met with the disciples, Jesus wasn’t around. The disciples were so amazed and joyful about the resurrection of Jesus that they informed the only one who had not seen Him, Thomas. Thomas saw Jesus die, and despite all the divine miracles Jesus performed or how many times Jesus said the Jews would kill Him but He will rise again, Thomas had a very difficult time believing that Jesus rose again, Observe:
John [20:25]- The other disciples therefore said unto him (Thomas), We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe.
Many of us are like Thomas today when the truth of the Gospel is preached, many do not believe unless they see proof and even if they believe they want more signs and wonders by presuming on God. Though we preach historical biblical facts, PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT PROOF. Even in the Church today, Faith is so horribly misapplied that God has become a magician. So let’s see what happened in Thomas case:
John [20:26]- After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and DO NOT BE UNBELIEVING, BUT BELIEVING.”28- Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? BLESSED ARE THEY (future believers) WHO DID NOT SEE (the risen Christ including His divine miracles), and YET BELIEVED.”
If we claim to have FAITH, then sight or the need for proof or signs and wonders must be absent because faith is the substance of things NOT SEEN, you either believe in Jesus Christ and what the bible says about Him and everything else He did and enabled His disciples and early Church to do and walk in that faith or you walk N live by sight and wanting to see more of those manifestation.
There are 66 books in the bible, that’s enough to keep one occupied and learn about are glorious God for a life time plus more. Believe in the bible because it’s completed from Genesis to Revelation or woe unto you for adding to the scriptures and attributing works of devils to the Spirit of God, walk by faith NOT SIGHT, fear God and repent.
