Luke 15:7- I (Jesus) say unto you (Pharisees, Scribes and the crowd), that likewise JOY shall be in HEAVEN over ONE SINNER that REPENTETH, more than over ninety and nine just (self righteous) persons, which need no repentance.
Jesus was accused of receiving sinners into His company by the self righteous religous leaders. These Pharisees like many others today can only see a born again believer as a no good sinner still incapable of change. This type of thinking is predominant among those most familiar with you like family and old friends.
When you study the scriptures God warns us countless times to not walk in step with the wicked, For example look:
1 Corinthians [15:33]- Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
So for Jesus to receive those who were still in sin was absurd. The bible says this, observe:
John [1:12]- But as many (Anyone) as received (repentant sinners) Him (Jesus Christ), to them (born again believers) gave He (Jesus) power (Salvation) to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on His name.
Jesus is in the business of saving souls and breaking the bondage of the devil in our lives, not keeping or encouraging sinners in their sinful condition. These false perceptions led Jesus to the 3 parables in this chapter explaining that God seeks after the lost sinners and rejoices when they’re found.
The initial scripture above triggered a thought in me, which is that, the life of a true believer is intended to glorify God and be a light to those in the darkness. We are not born again believers to seek after the things of this world, we are here to seek after souls for Jesus.
I’m not sure about others but I social network for the purpose of making Christ known to all that courageously follow me despite likes, comments, shares or friends. It ain’t about attention, that doesn’t get me any closer to heaven or a longer life, I’m just super thankful that we as Christians still can preach in this country without severe consequences which will probably come to an end soon because there are other brothers and sisters paying the price for Christ.
I’ve got Jesus, my bible, my wife, my brother’s and sisters in Christ, a glorious heavenly expectation and my responsibilities in this life, trust me, I’m SUPER GOOD and content.
My aim is for ONE SOUL, if that’s what all of Heaven rejoices over then man I will do all I can by God’s grace through my music, preaching, teaching, lifestyle, speech or whatever gift the LORD Jesus Christ see’s fit in order to reach THAT ONE SOUL. Fear God and repent!
