There is much Division today in the Political Theatre. People have become very passionate about their choices. Each according dictates of his own conscience, experience or personal reality creates a platform in which we make our decisions.
What inspires us? What Influences us?Politics are no longer so cut and dry where one Party stands for “this” set of standards.. and the other party stands for “that” set of standards. The rules of the game have been thrown to the side because of compromise.
Compromise can be very useful in many situations. We use it in our everyday lives but, are there certain areas that we should never compromise? As Christians I believe their are.
Do we have a responsibility when we choose and Elect a Leader? By what standards and measures are we to use? Are we to separate who we are In Christ and what we believe in the life saving Gospel. For a populist ideology and strategy that appeals to the masses?
God’s word has a lot to say on the matter. It also gives us counsel and wisdom when we sincerely examine what God says.
First we are to pray for them and each other with a Purpose.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
In Hosea 8:4 It shows that God can be very displeased with our Choices.
“They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.”
In Proverbs 28 We can see the repercussions of being under the Leadership of a Righteous Man and that of an Evil One.
In Acts and Romans it gives clear instruction to be in submission to the Governing Authorities (Acts [5:27]-29; Romans 13:1-7) Until they come into opposition of God’s Supreme Authority (1 Samuel [12:13]-25). (Proverbs [14:34]).
We should take this responsibility and blessing very seriously. Christians in so many countries have become oppressed, silenced and persecuted under Rulers that they had no part in electing. They suffer under these Governments and are scilenced, hated for their faith and powerless to do anything about it. These Christians are persecuted, jailed, murdered for even speaking of their faith. Yet here in this country we still have that blessing to express what we believe and use that knowledge and wisdom to dictate the framework of which we are still free to worship and conduct our lives. But, for how much longer? How much longer until the powers that be tip the scales of “Righteousness” to the control of “Evil”? Remember what God has said about electing the Evil King.
Thank God that he has given us his word to seek counsel and advice. To give us a measure of standard by which we can clearly measure all things… not just “some” things. We need to decide. Are we just “PART TIME” Believers? Only weighing in on our beliefs when it doesn’t ruffle the feathers of the masses? Or are we to stand bodly on the truth and desperately seek out and examine all things by the righteous counsel of God’s Word?
Is that too politically correct for you? If so, we will get what we deserve and what God has warned us about. We will slip the shackles back on.
