ROSENDALE, N.Y. – A New York man that works as an anesthesiologist has been charged with committing an “abortional act” and other crimes for forcing a woman to swallow the morning-after pill after she told him that she was pregnant.
Thomas Pfeiffer, 44, is facing charges of second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault and second-degree abortion following the incident this week.
According to reports, police received a “no voice” 911 call on Wednesday coming from a town just south of Albany. The woman, who is not being named, told police that she had called Pfeiffer to tell him that she was pregnant after receiving a positive home pregnancy test. Pfeiffer then purchased the morning-after pill over the counter at a local pharmacy and sought to force the woman to ingest it.
A struggle ensued, and Pfieffer allegedly strangled the woman as they argued over the matter. The woman sustained injuries to her throat and neck, and was treated at a local hospital.
