A powerful storm in the Bering Sea could bring hurricane-force winds and 40- to 50-foot waves into Alaska’s Aleutian Islands Friday into Saturday, and deep sea fishermen and remote towns are preparing.

Although Western Alaska is no stranger to intense storms, meteorologists have warned that mariners shouldn’t take any chances, Alaska’s kucb.org reports.
